Starting at the end of May 2026, Adobe IDs will be migrated to ByteBooks/Wipro. For most readers, everything will continue to work as before; there will be no immediate changes for already authorized devices. Only in the case of a new installation, a device change, or a new authorization will the Adobe migration to ByteBooks/Wipro affect them – find out what users need to do in these cases.

Current Situation

In 2025, Harman Connected Services, Inc. took over the ongoing platform support and feature development for Adobe eBook platform components from Adobe. More information can be found here.

Subsequently, Wipro Limited acquired the Harman business unit Digital Transformation Solutions. More information here.

The existing Adobe eBook platform components will continue to be operated by Wipro under its own product ByteBooks. Starting at the end of May, a migration of the Adobe ID will take place for this purpose. We will support you and your customers with all the necessary information.

What needs to be done now?

For readers who access Adobe DRM-protected titles via Adobe Digital Editions (or other devices authorized with an Adobe ID), this will result in changes.

Adobe IDs will be migrated to ByteBooks at the end of May, so that login/authorization in Adobe Digital Editions will in future be done via a ByteBooks ID.

Have your customers previously authorized Adobe Digital Editions or a device with an Adobe ID? Then they will remain logged in there – the migration will not log them out automatically .

Readers need to take action if they:

  • want to install Adobe Digital Editions for the first time or reinstall and then authorize it with their existing Adobe ID.
  • want to authorize a new device with their existing Adobe ID.

In this case, the Adobe ID needs to be linked to ByteBooks and a new password must be set.

We are continuously working to expand and keep this knowledge base up to date.

What happens after the transition?

Starting at he end of May, end-customer support for Adobe Digital Editions will be taken over by Wipro.

Wipro support can already be reached at the following contact: ebooks-support@wipro.com

What happens if readers don't take action?

As long as Adobe Digital Editions is already authorized with an Adobe ID, readers can continue to use their previously purchased and new eBooks with Adobe DRM. Only when Adobe Digital Editions needs to be newly installed and authorized will this no longer be possible without migrating the Adobe ID to ByteBooks.
